Corrections are part of maintaining travel guidance
Namibia travel information can change between research, booking, and departure. This log records corrections and clarifications that materially affect what a reader could understand or decide from a page.
Material changes include errors or important omissions involving entry eligibility, safety, health, fees, access, timing, commercial relationships, source authority, or booking terms. Minor spelling, formatting, and link-maintenance fixes may be made without a separate entry when they do not change meaning.
The initial entries below document the accountability and factual audit completed on 11 August 2026, including the destination, price, safety, entry, and metadata corrections made during the review.

A correction report is easiest to assess when it identifies the exact claim and the authority that supports a change. The email link opens a short reporting template; it does not subscribe you to updates.

2. Support
Include the strongest available source, preferably the Namibian authority or operator that owns the fact.
3. Review
The claim should be checked against its source role, publication date, and any newer controlling information.
4. Correct and record
Update the page and checked date. Add a public entry when the change materially affects meaning, cost, safety, eligibility, or a booking decision.

Destination fact correction
11 August 2026Removed unsupported superlatives, counts, and access claims
Destination and wildlife guides were checked against current MEFT, NWR, Ramsar, UNESCO, and NACSO material. The review corrected Etosha “Big Five” framing, Fish River trail distance and duration, Skeleton Coast boundaries, Sossusvlei access language, Sandwich Harbour permit context, and wildlife and conservancy figures. Unsupported dune heights, tree ages, population claims, fixed flock counts, and similar superlatives were removed or attributed.

Volatile-data correction
11 August 2026Removed stale prices and false drive-time precision
Old lodge rates, route fuel totals, fuel-price ranges, commercial activity prices, and several point-to-point time promises were removed. Cost and self-drive pages now explain the planning assumptions, show what must be quoted live, and link to current fuel, road, park, and supplier sources.

Safety and entry correction
11 August 2026Replaced blanket visa, health, water, and emergency claims
Homepage and planning copy no longer presents a copied nationality list, a universal vaccine answer, a blanket tap-water assurance, or stale embassy and ambulance numbers. The revised guidance routes readers to Namibia’s visa fact sheet and portal, individual travel-health advice, location-specific water checks, and current emergency sources.

Technical correction
11 August 2026Fixed inherited canonical and incomplete social metadata
The root metadata previously risked giving child pages the homepage canonical and incomplete inherited social fields. Every public page now emits its own absolute canonical URL, Open Graph URL and image details, and Twitter card metadata through one shared helper.

Source classification correction
11 August 2026Separated Namibian primary sources from international cross-checks
The earlier register grouped most public sources under a broad “Government” label. The register now distinguishes Namibian government, Namibian public bodies, community-conservation evidence, international official guidance, health authorities, and consumer-protection sources. Each entry also states whether it is a primary authority, operational publisher, official cross-check, or sector source.

Source coverage correction
11 August 2026Added missing Namibian operational authorities
The source register previously concentrated on visa, advisory, health, insurance, and disclosure pages. It now includes direct sources for national parks and published fees, NWR rates and terms, tourism-business registration, the national road network, airport operations, weather information supplied through WMO, and communal-conservancy context. These additions do not make any price, permit, road, or weather claim permanent; the live source must still be reopened.

Methodology clarification
11 August 2026Clarified the present research model and its limits
A new About page now states that current Namibia Plus guidance is produced through desk research and source review. It does not claim an unpublished team biography, a local newsroom, repeated field testing, or first-hand reporting. Standards for any future named local contribution are now public.

This log and a correction-specific email link were added so readers can identify a page, quote disputed wording, provide a source, and see material corrections recorded publicly rather than folded into silent edits.
