Map questions

Where is Namibia?

In south-western Africa, on the Atlantic coast. It borders Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana to the east and South Africa to the south and south-east. The narrow Zambezi Region in the north-east reaches between Angola, Zambia and Botswana.

Which roads are tarred?

The B roads are tarred, including the B1 north–south through Windhoek, Otjiwarongo and Tsumeb and the B2 to Swakopmund. Some C roads are tarred too, such as the C38 from Otjiwarongo through Outjo to Etosha’s southern gate. Most other C roads, including the main routes to Sesriem and through Damaraland, are mostly gravel. Check your rental contract for any roads it excludes.

Can I use this map for navigation?

No. It is a planning overview at country scale. Use an offline navigation app or a printed road map on the road, and check current road conditions before long gravel stretches.

How many regions does Namibia have?

Fourteen. Kavango was split into Kavango East and Kavango West, and Caprivi was renamed Zambezi, in 2013. Older maps still show 13 regions.
