Namibia Travel Insurance Guide

Compare medical, evacuation, cancellation, rental-car, and safari activity cover before paying deposits.

Not insurance advice

Insurance is part of the route plan

Namibia trips often combine long gravel drives, remote lodges, wildlife activities, expensive deposits, and limited medical access outside major centers. A generic policy may not match the trip you are actually taking.

Use this page to prepare policy questions, then verify the final wording with the insurer. Namibia Plus does not sell insurance yet; any future commercial links should be disclosed and judged against these checks.

Coverage areas that matter in Namibia

Medical and evacuation cover

Remote routes can put travelers far from advanced care. Check emergency medical limits, evacuation or repatriation wording, pre-existing condition rules, and emergency contact procedures.

Self-drive and rental exposure

Travel insurance and rental-car excess policies often exclude tyres, windscreens, undercarriage, roof damage, off-road use, or contract violations. Compare the rental contract and insurance wording together.

Cancellation and supplier failure

Peak-season lodges, guided safaris, and fly-in trips can have strict deposits. Check cancellation windows, supplier failure cover, delay cover, and whether expensive activities are included.

Policy questions before you buy

Send the insurer your route and planned activities. Save written answers with your policy documents.

  • Does the policy cover Namibia for your full travel dates and nationality or residence?
  • Are safari activities, game drives, light aircraft transfers, hiking, quad biking, kayaking, or sandboarding covered?
  • What medical evacuation or repatriation limit applies, and who authorizes evacuation?
  • Are pre-existing medical conditions excluded, covered, or subject to declaration?
  • Does rental-car excess cover match the rental contract exclusions?
  • Are high-value camera gear, luggage, laptops, and documents covered at realistic limits?
  • Do cancellation benefits cover lodge deposits, operator insolvency, missed connections, and travel-advisory changes?

Insurance depends on how you travel

Build the route, rental plan, and activity list first so you can test policies against the real trip.
