Choose Location and Stay Type First
Namibia's accommodation landscape spans a wide range: remote fly-in camps, private reserves, guest farms, town hotels, NWR (Namibia Wildlife Resorts) camps, and simple campsites. The best fit depends less on star labels and more on your route pace, gate timing, access road, inclusions, and cancellation terms.
Some lodges operate within conservancy or community frameworks, but benefit claims should be checked rather than assumed. Treat the examples below as a location-planning shortlist, not as paid rankings or live availability. Once you have property quotes, move to the separate lodge quote worksheet.
Rooms, self-catering & camping
Choose what you want to do at the end of a drive
Compare the meal plan, facilities and daily effort as well as the nightly quote. “Camp” can describe a furnished room, a tented lodge or a pitch: book the exact accommodation category. These are planning choices, not official quality grades.

Match the pitch to the park visit
NWR lists both rooms and campsites at Okaukuejo, but its reservation terms keep park fees separate from accommodation. Check the gate and camp rules for the property you book; an outside pitch and an inside-park base create different morning journeys.
Compare the full camping setup
Confirm the tent, bedding, cooking kit, fridge, chairs and storage in the rental inventory. Allow time for the handover and camp setup before dark. A low pitch price alone does not establish a cheaper trip once the vehicle, equipment and food are included.

Shipwreck Lodge
Investigate when comparing remote northern-coast stays. Confirm how guests arrive, baggage limits, minimum stay, activities, and the named community or conservancy relationship.
Hoanib Valley Camp
A remote-camp example for testing road or air access, seasonal operations, included guiding, conservation claims, and cancellation terms.
&Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge
Useful as a private-reserve comparison. Verify transfer time to the park entrance, which activities are included, and whether quoted meals and drinks are comprehensive.
Ongava Lodge
Compare private-reserve activities with access to Etosha itself. Ask which drives enter the national park and which stay on the reserve.
Onguma accommodation
Onguma has multiple accommodation styles. Compare the exact property, distance to the Etosha gate, meal plan, waterhole access, and activity schedule.
Sossus Dune Lodge
An NWR-operated option to compare for park access. Confirm current gate privileges, meal plan, room category, conservation fees, and booking terms directly.
Okaukuejo Resort
An inside-park base with several room and camping categories. Check current facilities, waterhole access, park fees, and availability through official NWR channels.
Sesriem Campsite
An inside-park campsite example. Confirm current arrival rules, gate access, campsite equipment, park fees, and cancellation conditions.
Fish River Lodge
Use this example to check exact map position: western-rim access and drive time differ materially from the main eastern viewpoints and Ai-Ais.
Guest farm or town stay
Compare secure parking, meal hours, after-dark arrival policy, road access, and whether the first or final transfer leaves a safe flight buffer.
The Namibian Guest Farm Experience
Guest farms range from working farms to private wildlife properties and small hospitality businesses. They can create useful route breaks, but the label alone does not tell you the road quality, wildlife practices, meal plan, accessibility, or how locally rooted the experience is.
Ask who owns and operates the property, which activities use captive or free-ranging wildlife, what is included, and how late arrivals are handled. Near Windhoek, also compare the stay against your airport and vehicle-handover times.
